Serena Williams hasn't been shy about sharing news of her engagement on social media—she is, after all, engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian (and has a stunning rock of an engagement ring to prove it)—but apparently, she hasn't spent a whole lot of time planning her impending wedding.
At a press conference for the 2017 Australian Open in Melbourne, the tennis star made clear that the shiny new rock on her finger hasn't caused her to take her eye off the ball.
When asked if she feels any different following her recent engagement, Williams told reporters, "It feels good."
But being the greatest athlete of all time, Williams has been much more focused on the major title at stake.
"I really haven't thought about it too much, because I wasn't even really gonna think about it until after the tournament," she said. "So, I just keep saying, 'February, I'll start looking at the bigger picture of my life.' But right now, I’m just so focused that this is all I can think about."
We'd, of course, expect nothing less from the champion. But that's not to say we're not pumped for the days when we'll start to catch a glimpse or two of Williams' wedding planning process. Earlier this month, she showed off the ring from her fiancee of one month (though she initially trolled us with some well-placed taco emojis).
But first thing's first. Serena has already opened the tournament with a win in straight sets.
"I didn't come here to lose in the first round, or the second round, or at all," Williams said of her showing. "If I can play the way I've been practicing, it will be fine."
First stop: victory. Next stop: aisle.
