Cleveland "Murphy" Wilson and Lucinda Myers are proof that love truly has no age limit. And although we usually see the traditional engagement photos of young, 20-something couples, the two senior lovebirds have defied the romance norm with their completely adorable engagement photoshoot.
Wilson, 70, and Myers, who is in her 60s, have admired each other for years. The two, who attend the same church in Alabama, flirted from afar for three years before finally speaking in person. Myers knew she had a secret admirer in the congregation, and after finding out it was Wilson, she began dressing up specially to impress him— though she wanted her suitor to approach her first. But after a few weekends without seeing Wilson in church, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
When Wilson finally returned, Myers approached him and told him, "I haven't seen your beautiful smile lately." The rest was history.
The two began dating shortly after, and within a month, Wilson proposed and set the wedding date for July 29 in Huntsville, Alabama. The two hired photographer Gianna Snell to capture their beautiful engagement photos. Snell worked with the couple to create photos that perfectly fit their unique romance— and the results are simply heartwarming.
After the photoshoot, Snell posted to her blog "Sure, people of all ages get proposals all the time and we see engagement photos on the regular, but social media is captivated by this image. Why? Because it gives so many hope that they should never give up on their dream of finding love."
During the shoot, the two amassed a bit of a crowd that gathered to see the smitten couple candidly pose together. Snell admitted in her blog that she was worried the two would be shy about being publicly affectionate for the shoot but on the contrary, she had a hard time keeping up with them.
"The pair couldn't keep their hands off of each other," she wrote. "They later shared that it was this gesture, his hand around her waist, several months earlier that was one of the first signs of a beautiful spark between them."
Though the couple isn't on social media, they have created quite a fan base over the internet. Within days, their photos accumulated over 33,000 likes on Instagram. Wilson's youngest daughter, Danita, told the couple they had gone viral, to which the two replied, "Viral...what does that mean?"
