Savannah Chrisley has been keeping a secret: She’s engaged! The reality star confirmed to People on Wednesday that her boyfriend, professional hockey player Nic Kerdiles, proposed on Christmas Eve.

"Well y’all...we did the dang thing!!" she wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo with Kerdiles and her stunning engagement ring. "Never in a million years did I think I would be this young and have found my forever person. You are the best decision I have ever made."

Chrisley, 21, has been dating her 25-year-old boyfriend since November 2017. "You love me through all my flaws and imperfections. I’m so glad I didn’t settle for less because now I have everything I could want in a man and more," she continued in her post. "You know how to handle me. You know what I need when I feel like my world is in crumbling. You know how to make me smile on good days and bad days. You always listen to what I need to say. You support my decisions. You motivate me in whatever I’m doing. You love me unconditionally but more importantly, you respect me. How do you do it? I know it's not easy all the time (let’s be real...most of the time) but I appreciate you more than you could ever imagine!! I love you ALOTTLE 😂 I can’t wait to be your wife."

Chrisley is best known for her role on her family’s reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best, so it’s no surprise they used filming for the show as a cover for the surprise proposal.

“[On the night of the engagement], Nic’s family was in town and my whole family was there and we were filming and I was furious,” she said to People. “I was like, ‘The fact we’re filming on Christmas Eve is absolutely insane. I have people here.’”

Little did she know, it was all just a decoy.

“And then my mom said she forgot something at the store. So I got in the car and went to the store with her,” Chrisley continued. “When we came back and we walked in the door, no one was there. Our best friend’s kid, Dylan, goes, ‘Hey, I think they’re looking for you outside.’ I walk outside and it’s all lit up! And Nic’s family is standing on one side, my family and friends are standing on the other, and then I just start freaking out because I’m like, ‘This isn’t really about to happen.’ ”

Oh, it happened. But despite Kerdiles having every detail planned, nerves still got to him. “He said he had this whole thing written out, and he was like, ‘I just forgot it all,” Chrisley recalled. “And it was just so cute and everyone was crying. It was just such a cool moment. And the fact that both of our families were there made it even better.”

Even if Kerdiles messed up his words, he did not mess up the ring—partially because Chrisley picked it out herself!

“He sent me a picture of a ring on Instagram one day and it was hideous,” she said. “He was like, ‘Do you like this?’ And I was like, ‘No, no.’ I immediately sent him a picture of what I liked.”

Her mom ultimately helped the groom-to-be pick out the ring, which makes her 5-carat brilliant cut diamond ring, designed by Dror Flantzman, even more special. The rock is set into a four-prong basket-style head, finished with beak style prongs, and set on band of 18 round brilliant cut diamonds, People reports.

Before proposal plans were even set in motion, Kerdiles went the traditional route of asking Chrisley’s dad for permission.

“It’s funny because Nic wanted to ask them in person, but he was in Canada and we were all in Nashville,” Chrisley tells People. “He FaceTimed my dad. My dad said he was so nervous when he FaceTimed him, that he asked my dad for his hand in marriage! And my dad was like, ‘You may want to re-ask that question.’ He was like, ‘Do you want my daughter’s hand in marriage or my hand in marriage?’ Nic hung up the phone and called back, and then asked him the right way. And it was just so funny. My dad said he was so nervous.”

The proposal came just after the couple’s first anniversary. They may have rushed the engagement, but are walking slowly toward the aisle.

“Just because you’re engaged doesn’t mean you have to get married tomorrow,” Chrisley added. “So, we’re kind of just taking our time. We know that we want to spend the rest of our life with each other.”
