Flower-strewned wedding aisle, paparazzi-packed red carpet, same difference TBH... If we could pick one look to marry at last night's 2017 Golden Globes, we'd be tying the knot with Sarah Jessica Parker's ensemble — and fittingly so, as the style star strutted down the red carpet in an honest-to-goodness wedding dress! Yes, Parker indeed donned a wedding dress straight off of the bridal runways to the Golden Globes. And looked absurdly chic while doing so. Obvi...
In between obsessing over the crazy cute couples (Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, we're looking at you) at last night's 2017 Golden Globes, we were squealing with delight over Parker's bridal-turned-red-carpet style. The actress strutted onto the scene wearing a voluminous white wedding dress from Vera Wang's Fall 2017 bridal collection that sent our hearts all aflutter and had us half expecting a flower girl to be trailing along behind her. Those oversized draped sleeves! That cold shoulder cut! The V-neckline! GIMME.
"This dress represents a modern, minimal, and more architectural interpretation of the gowns in Franco Zeffirelli's film Romeo and Juliet," the designer herself explained to Vogue, stating that Parker first fell in love with the frock when she spotted it on the bridal runways back in October. And then if the dress wasn't already perfect enough on its own, it certainly didn't hurt that since Parker was nominated for her role on HBO's Divorce, the dress put a fun spin on the series. "I'd like to imply that because this silhouette originated from our bridal collection, there was a deliberate nod to Parker’s new series, but not intentionally." said Wang. Yay for happy accidents that result in MAJOR fashion moments!
Parker isn't the first celeb to basically raid Kleinfeld's when award show season rolls around. Beyoncé has also wowed in wedding wear on the red carpet, slaying in an Inbal Dror wedding dress at last year's Grammy Awards and a sheer Elie Saab number at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. Does this mean that it's officially acceptable to wear your wedding dress out and about after the big day? Grocery store, here we come! (Wedding aisle, frozen food aisle, again same difference...)
