Perhaps the only thing more stressful than being a bride is being the mother of the bride. Just ask Sarah, Duchess of York, whose daughter, Princess Eugenie, married Jack Brooksbank on Friday. Fergie was caught on camera letting out what looked like a huge sigh of relief during the proceedings, which unfolded in front of more than 800 guests at St. George’s Chapel.
Fergie’s relief is totally understandable, considering how reportedly involved she was in planning the wedding. Palace insiders told People that despite it being “very much Princess Eugenie and Jack’s day,” Eugenie’s mum was still “very involved.” Based on many of the day’s incredible flourishes—including the amazing red velvet and chocolate wedding cake—we’d say that Fergie has a knack for this.
There were even some reports that Fergie would include a tribute to Princess Diana during the ceremony. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Inquisitr that Fergie might have chosen a specific hymn in a nod to her late friend. “Sarah may well pay a tribute to Diana," Fitzwilliams said prior to the wedding. "They were famously friendly, though they subsequently fell out. A gesture would undoubtedly please William and Harry. She might choose a hymn which Diana was fond of such as 'I Vow to Thee My Country,' which was sung at Diana’s wedding and funeral."
Though the hymn was ultimately left out of the proceedings, it was easy to feel Diana’s spirit in the room, especially when it came to Sarah Ferguson, who rose to global prominence at the same time as her late sister-in-law. We're sure Diana, and a million other things, were on Fergie's mind as she watched her daughter walk down the isle. So enjoy this moment, Fergie, you earned it!
