Wedding bells are ringing in Litchfield! But no, there weren't any toilet-paper veils à la Morello, and no one needed a furlough to attend. Former Orange Is the New Black actress Samira Wiley just tied the knot with Lauren Morelli, a writer for the hit Netflix show. The couple said "I do" this weekend in Palm Springs, California, and here's everything we know about the confetti-themed (yes, confetti-themed!) wedding.
These two newlyweds actually got their start on the Litchfield prison-yard set. "I'd already seen Samira's audition tape and immediately had a crush on her—the complication being that I was married to a man at the time," Morelli revealed in the February issue of Out magazine. Eventually, the writer split with her husband, publicly came out, and then popped the question to Wiley last October, gifting her love a simple, chic engagement ring featuring an Asscher-cut diamond, uniquely sitting vertically on the band.
After a five-month engagement, Wiley and Morelli traded in their orange jumpsuits for wedding white. On Saturday, March 25, the couple wed in an intimate ceremony with their close family and friends, according to Martha Stewart Weddings.
At their Palm Springs venue, the duo threw a celebration filled with confetti and tons of fun, inspired by their love for Pillsbury Funfetti cake. (Seriously!) The romantic ceremony was a family affair, as Wiley's parents officiated the I do's. And after being pronounced officially wed, the couple walked back up the aisle to "This Is How We Do It," by Montell Jordan, before making their grand entrance at the reception to Justin Bieber's "Baby." Told ya this party was fun filled!
Whimsical string lights lit up the reception space, and Morelli and Wiley took to the floor for their first dance as confetti (of course!) magically swirled around them.
But in our opinion, it was the big-day ensembles of these two brides that took center stage! They were, dare we say, criminally gorgeous?
In the first photo of the nuptials, shot by Jose Villa, Wiley and Morelli are showing off their stunning weddingwear. Both bridal outfits were designed by Christian Siriano, with Wiley donning a voluminous ball gown featuring clean, chic lines and a romantic off-the-shoulder neckline. Meanwhile, her wifey stunned in a modern jumpsuit complete with a cape and a high, lacy neckline.
Has there ever been a pair of brides so damn chic?!
