First time fatherhood is always slightly frightening, but not for dad-to-be Ryan Reynolds! Hunky actor and husband to pregnant star Blake Lively is ready to be a dad — even if that means changing lots and lots of diapers.
"I don't have a weak stomach," Reynolds told People at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research Benefit in New York this past weekend. "I'm good with diapers and diarrhea and all that kind of stuff because I have lots of nieces and nephews, so I've done it all before."
More than that, though, he's just excited to have a close relationship with his future son or daughter. "I'm just excited about having a buddy," he continued. "We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, but whatever it is, you have this tether to reality that never goes away."
His excitement and confidence is pretty admirable, especially since most new parents are often understandably nervous about this huge change in their lives. But for Reynolds, he's ready to make mistakes when the baby arrives in early 2015, and learn from them.
"For a lot of new dads, you tend to dwell on the mistakes you don't want to make," Reynolds said of his pending parenthood. "I'm at that stage still where I'm focused primarily on being open and understanding and leaving a lot of room for error."
It sounds like Reynolds is going to be just as great of a dad as he is already a husband. Blake hasn't been shy about sharing his endless support, recently telling People that he "takes pretty good care of me."
We can't wait to see these adorable parents-to-be in action!
