Um, what did he say? To the shock of everyone at the Toronto Film Festival, Ryan Reynolds declared that he will have to be giving up adorable daughter James sometime soon, People reports. As in, the actor is giving he and Blake Lively's precious first child away. That can't be right!
Of course, since it's Ryan Reynolds, he was totally joking. Here's what happened: Reynolds wanted to star in his upcoming film, Mississippi Grind, so badly that he bet his precious firstborn on it. And, now that things have worked out in the bet's favor, it's time to offer up little James.
"Over two years ago I met these two incredible directors — Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden — in this little brasserie type place in Manhattan and I read the script and I promised them my first-born child if they would cast me in this movie," Lively's husband told the audience at Mississippi Grind's premiere. "And here we are — I'm very, very happy that we're actually here and we going to get to show you this film and I get to be in it, which I'm thrilled about, but I'm also a little sad because since then I've had a daughter and they're wondering if I'll be giving her up."
Furthering the punchline, Reynolds continued: "But it's not like this is super sad because it's really hard work. But I feel confident in their abilities to raise that child in a significant way."
We have a feeling he'll have to check with wife Blake before following through with this transaction...
