According to the film's log line, via Variety, Shotgun Wedding “tells the hilarious, adrenaline-fueled story of a couple whose extravagant destination wedding is taken over by criminals. In the process of saving their families, they rediscover why they wanted to get married in the first place.” (Sounds right up our alley.)
Reynolds, who is primarily known for his roles in action films like Deadpool, Green Lantern, and The Hitman's Bodyguard, hasn't acted in a rom com in a decade—nine years too long, if you ask us.
“I haven’t done a romantic comedy since The Proposal, but I just fell in love with ‘Shotgun Wedding.’ It’s so refreshing and surprising,” Reynolds said in a statement. “I can’t wait to bring it to life with Jason, Todd, Dave and the great team at Lionsgate.” His on-screen bride-to-be has yet to be announced.
Though we have no doubt Reynolds will rock this role, his wedding could not have been more different. Reynolds and his equally talented wife, A Simple Favor actress Blake Lively, tied the knot in 2012 in an intimate ceremony in Charleston, South Carolina. The pair have two daughters together, Inez, two, and James, four, and most important, are beloved for their nonstop online pranks and flirty Instagram bickering. For instance, two years ago, the couple surprised their fans when both Lively and Reynolds wished each other a happy birthday—while cropping their spouse out of the image.
