OMG. What did we do to deserve two big reveals in one day? (Must be the fact that we never vandalized a gas station. Thanks, karma!) Ryan Lochte just dropped two bombshells, revealing both the sex of his baby and when he plans to tie the knot with fiancé Kayla Rae Reid. Can you say score?
Back in October 2015, the Olympian popped the question, proposing to Reid after nine months of dating and the pair has been planning their sure-to-be gold medal worthy wedding ever since. After all, the couple has a lot to compete with (although heavy competition isn't anything new to the swimming star), after the gorgeous three — yes, three! — weddings of Lochte's teammate Michael Phelps and his wife, Nicole Johnson. But it sounds like it ain't no thing to Lochte, who is admittedly taking the reins when it comes to wedding planning.
"They always say like the wedding's for the woman but you know, for me, I want to be a part of it," Lochte recently told Entertainment Tonight. "I want to help pick out the cake, pick out the flowers, settings, everything, so I want to be a big part of it."
But just when will these Olympian-planned nuptials take place? After making the announcement that they're expecting their first child together (with a poolside pic, no less!), Lochte and Reid have turned their attention to their baby on the way — but they do have a potential time in mind.
"Our biggest focus is bringing this child into this world," explained Lochte. "We're going to keep our focus on that and afterward we'll set a date and time on getting married, but I think we're looking at October."
OCTOBER! Low-key marking our calendars now...
But now back to that baby! (A.K.A. Boomer Phelps' biggest competition in 2036 — kidding, probably...)
"We're having a boy," Lochte revealed, but no — he's not going to be forced to hit the lap pool before he learns to walk. "He's going to know how to swim, but I'm not going to push him into anything," said Lochte. "He can pick any kind of sport he wants. I really want him to play a sport and be active. I think that's a really important thing in children, is to be active."
The potential comparisons between Boomer Phelps and Lochte's little one isn't lost on him, though. Who will be the first to earn a gold medal cuteness?! Which Olympic-bred infant will have more followers on Instagram?
"We might do that, create the whole Instagram account and all that. I already knew this was going to happen when we found out it was a boy, that everyone's going to be like, 'Oh, Boomer — it's like Phelps and Lochte back at it again,'" noted the Olympian. "So it'll be fun but the most important thing is I'm really excited about just having a kid."
And we're excited for the ensuing Battle of the Baby Instagrams! Bring on the cute baby pics!
