Leave it to ultimate heartthrob Ryan Gosling to inspire a marriage proposal! At the U.S. premiere of his directorial debut, Lost River, at SXSW in Austin, Texas on Saturday, the attention was taken away from Gosling and given to one elated couple who had a surprise engagement.
During the Q&A portion of the premiere, a woman raised her hand to ask a question, but what happened next was too heartwarming to bear. "I think your film is amazing. [But] I'm gonna kind of take away from it for a second if I can, and ask my girlfriend of 11 years if she'll marry me," the audience member said (you're going to want to skip to 11:47 in the video to see this all go down).

At that moment Gosling, says, "We've got a marriage proposal going on here," and handed her the mic to continue.
"We've been together 11 years and we've had many ups and downs, and she finally moved here to be with me a few months ago after being apart for two years, and, I want to spend the rest of my life with you — will you marry me?" the woman said to a chorus of awws in the audience — including a stunned Eva Mendes, Gosling's girlfriend, mother to his child, and costar in his film. Gosling his self was taken a back and decided that was a note he could end the session on.
How sweet! Congrats to the happy couple. Hey, maybe the proposal will inspire Gosling to pop the question to Mendes? We can dream!
