The Royal Wedding Staff Has to Watch Suits to Prep for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding

It was a royal demand.

How does one prepare for a royal wedding, you ask? Sure, there are probably the usual tasks, like finding a caterer, getting a dress, and cake tasting. But in addition to all those average to-do’s, the staff involved in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding have been given one very unique instruction: Watch Suits.

According to the Daily Mail, the Lay Stewards at St George’s Chapel of Windsor Castle, where the royal ceremony will be held, were told, literally, to Netflix binge so that they’re able to recognize Markle’s friends. “I’ve told the Stewards to get Netflix and watch Suits, so they know who everyone is at the wedding,” captain of the Lay Stewards and historian Hugo Vickers confirmed.

Does this mean Mike (Patrick J. Adams), Harvey (Gabriel Macht), and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) will be making an off-screen appearance to watch their former costar walk down the aisle?

Adams, who played Markle’s love interest in the show and is a friend IRL, has shown lots of social-media support for Markle’s royal relationship. In September, he shared an old photo of the two of them kissing on set with the caption, “Prince Harry is SHOOK 😂❤️❤️❤️❤️ HAPPY BIRTHDAY M XXXX,” which was pretty funny to Suits fans but didn’t exactly go over well with Harry and Meghan ’shippers. In fact, Adams left Instagram for a stint due to the backlash. And after the prince and future duchess announced their engagement, Adams (who Markle’s character is married to on Suits) jokingly tweeted, “She said she was just going out to get some milk...”

Though her friends may be by her side for the wedding, she will no longer be appearing by theirs onscreen. Suits creator Aaron Korsh recently revealed that Markle will no longer be appearing on the show. “What we decided to do (was to) say, ‘Look, I would rather have good things happen to Meghan in her life,’ which would likely mean her leaving the show,” he told Radio 4’s Today of his forward-thinking plan to write Rachel Zane out of the show. “So let’s plan on that, and it’s much easier to undo that, if it came to it, than to just plan on her staying forever and then finding out she’s going to go.”

Clearly, that worked out for Markle as well as the church staff, who are surely looking forward to some Netflix and chill before the big May date.
