First, U.K. brewery Windsor & Eton crafted a special beer in honor of the royal wedding. Then, a pub also honored Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with a commemorative royal wedding gin. And now, there is a royal wedding ice cream flavor officially in the works. Time to add this to the menu for your royal wedding viewing party! (You can also curl up in bed with a pint to mourn the fact that you'll probably never be a princess. Either works, really.)
While serving sweets from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's U.K.-based wedding cake bakery may be a tad difficult to arrange, you can at least give your friends a taste of the royal wedding when they gather around your TV on the morning of May 19. Refinery 29 reports that the Brooklyn-based ice cream company Ample Hills Creamery has just announced their plans to release a limited-edition flavor inspired by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's nuptials.
Even more enticing, the exact flavor of this royal-wedding-inspired dessert will be decided by us commoners in a social media contest. "Ample Hills wants to create ice cream fit for a queen, and we need your help," writes Ample Hills on their website. "Think great British treats like Earl Grey, lemon drizzle cake, or sticky toffee pudding. We're looking to crown a winning flavor that 'suits' Prince Harry and America’s sweetheart, Meghan Markle, as they prepare to say 'I do!'"
Those with a crowning flavor in mind can submit their ideas on the Ample Hills website or comment on the company's social media posts. The winner will receive a four-pack of the royal wedding ice cream (and bragging rights). "Who knows, if your flavor gets in the hands of the royal family, you may be knighted by the queen and her court of corgis!" Ample Hills also muses.
Following the contest (get your ideas in by April 13!), the winning flavor will be served at all Ample Hills New York and New Jersey locations and available for nationwide shipping. Might we suggest pairing a pint with an on-theme ice cream scooper, inspired by Queen Elizabeth II herself? (Buy it now here!)
