Working as a fashion and beauty assistant, I never know what the day might bring. I could be assisting on a photo shoot, managing the fashion closet, previewing new collections and beauty products, or trying to track down an exact replica of Prince William's uniform for a fashion story. One task I did not expect, however, was moonlighting as a "lady in waiting" for May's royal-inspired fashion story, "Playing the Palace." (Apparently, because of my peaches-and-cream complexion, my boss decided that I could pass for a Brit.) Shot at a historic mansion in Yonkers, New York, the fanciful story imagined our spin on Kate Middleton—or should we say Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge—in a variety of ensembles surrounding her wedding-day events. While I definitely won't be making a day job out of this anytime soon, it was fun being on the other side of the camera for a day, getting pampered by hair and makeup professionals. (I even scored a few beauty tips along the way!) To see our take on Kate, check out the entire story in our May issue, on stands now.
