Here's Why the Internet Just Collectively Panicked Over Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Baby

We all need to relax a bit

Between Game of Thrones, Avengers: Endgame, and royal baby speculation—we're all collectively a little bit on edge.

Over the weekend, everyone thought Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's baby was on the way after an ambulance was spotted in Windsor near Frogmore Cottage, where the royal couple has recently relocated to.

But turns out it was a false alarm: “South Central Ambulance Service will continue to care for all patients in Windsor in the usual way,” the ambulance service later said in a statement. “It is not possible to comment on the general movement of ambulances around the Windsor area and patient confidentiality must be respected at all times. Furthermore, we do not comment on operational matters relating to members of the royal household.”

Now, another red herring about the baby's birth has made its way to social media, courtesy of the official royal family Instagram. The social media account recently posted a seemingly innocuous photo of Sophie, Countess of Wessex, visiting newborn babies at a hospital during an official engagement in India.

But many fans quickly scrolling past the image took it to be an official announcement of Harry and Meghan's highly-anticipated child.

"Woke up to a picture of a baby on the #royalfamily Instagram page and my ❤️ stopped," one royal reporter tweeted after seeing the post. "While we wait for the #royalbaby, #HappyAnniversary to #kateandwilliam and a photo covering the #royalwedding from 8 years ago. Time flies!" An Instagram commenter wrote, "I thought the royal baby was born." Many others had the same confusion. "Who else first thought that was Meghan's baby?" another wrote.

But no need to worry, there's been no update yet!

For now, we'll all just have to wait for news of Baby Sussex's arrival. We do know that the duke and duchess plan to keep things as private as possible, and we won't be seeing a photo call outside the hospital, as has been the case with Kate Middleton and Prince William's children. “The duke and duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family,” according to a statement released by Buckingham Palace.

We clearly cannot wait.
