More than a decade after they first met in Rome, Francesca Ferrazzo and Marco Squadrani got engaged on a restaurant’s rooftop in the same city as a violinist played their song and a waiter brought a cloche dish holding a beautiful diamond ring. And after a proposal that epic (kudos to you, Marco!), the couple knew a wedding in the same city was inevitable. Ultimately, they selected the venue Tenuta Pantano Borghese, just outside the city, because it made them feel as if they were at home. “We fell in love with the ceremony scenario,” says Francesca.
With a picturesque locale selected, Francesca and Marco called on Cristina Ditta of the Wedding Care and Framberry Events to help plan and arrange a wedding for 110 guests. In what the bride calls a smooth and easygoing process, the bride and her talented planners designed a stunning wedding, complete with a color scheme of gold, pomegranate, antique pink, nude, and blue hues to build the right mood. And finally, on September 8, 2017, their goal came to life. "We wanted to celebrate what we had created all these past years with close friends and family,” says their bride. And indeed they did—including the couple's young daughter, who played an important role as flower girl.

“The easiest thing [about the wedding] was choosing my dress,” says Francesca, who says she had no doubt her intricately detailed Atelier Emè gown was the one. And even better? The bride's one-year-old daughter's reaction. "When she saw me, she said, 'Wow mom!’ and my heart melted," remembers Francesca.
The bride completed her look with a bouquet of Café au Lait dahlia, David Austin roses, chocolate cosmos, and silk ribbons. She also wore her mother’s Damiani diamond earrings and Rachel Simpson shoes.
From start to finish, the entire day felt elegant, outdoorsy, and laid back, which was the bride's vision. This look was anchored around the flowing ceremony backdrop, which a calligrapher wrote in script in Italian.
Flower petals in paper cones gave guests something to throw as the happy newlyweds exited their ceremony.
Sheer silk ribbons were tied to the charming bistro chairs to bring in the wedding's color palette with the ceremony setting.
The ceremony setting is what truly sold the couple on their venue. They decorated a large oak tree with fabric and had a carpet made from flowers. Francesca’s father and daughter, wearing a cute white cotton dress, accompanied her down the aisle as a string quartet played. Coincidentally, once at the altar, the bride and groom realized their vows were almost identical even though they'd written them separately!

The same flowers and pastoral look extended to the dinner decor, during which the band played.
Cecilia Boschi created a unique seating chart using a wooden door. The resulting design had a rustic, romantic feel thanks to fresh fall fruit accents and vines.
For the seated dinner, flower arrangements incorporated dahlias, roses, chocolate cosmos, and sanguisorba flowers.
The simple wooden tables were topped with velvet runners, antique candlesticks with blue candles, and cups with figs and pomegranates. (Note: Velvet is one of the biggest wedding trends we're seeing right now!)
For their cake, Francesca and Marco selected an Italian sponge cake topped with fresh strawberries, lemon cream, sugar paste, and fresh flowers.
Looking back on her big day, the bride says a few of her favorite moments included exchanging their (almost identical) vows and walking down the aisle with her one-year-old daughter. Also, how the very cloudy day all of a sudden became blindingly sunny just before the ceremony!
