Forget about Runaway Bride. Richard Gere and his new real-life wife, Alejandra Silva, hosted their second (wildly successful) wedding celebration over the weekend, complete with family, friends, and Tibetan monks, People reports.
The event was held at Gere's estate in Pound Ridge, New York, and according to People, the "intimate gathering"—with guests like chef Eric Ripert and composer Bette Sussman—began at 5 p.m. and continued into the night. Gere and Silva embraced their Buddhist beliefs (she converted from Catholicism two years ago after she started dating the actor) by welcoming several Tibetan monks to the party.
Gere, 68, and Silva, 35, reportedly started dating in 2014, and made their first public appearance together on a red carpet in November 2015. Though the celebration took place on Cinco de Mayo, the pair actually tied the knot in a secret ceremony earlier this year. "They're so comfortable with each other, have fun together, and are looking forward to their future together," a source told People of the newlyweds.
"And the the day has come... so very excited!!" Silva captioned an Instagram post of Gere's estate the morning of the wedding.
Guests at the wedding celebration took to Instagram to share some details from the event. Actress Saundra Santiago posted a photo of herself with the bride, in which a small piece of her wedding dress is visible. The bride sported two different frocks for the big day, both custom designed by Yaniv Persy—one for the ceremony and another for the reception. Persey described the first gown as "very romantic and bohemian, yet elegant," featuring solstice floral lace and an empire silhouette. The second look included dangling Swarovski crystals for a fringe-like look.
"It is made of silk chiffon with fabric gathered at the hem to offer a more Spanish inspired take on a bohemian gown," Persey added. "We then highlighted her shoulders to add a modern element to such a romantic dress."
Another shot from Santiago's account revealed that she and Sussman would be performing, and two other posts provided some insight into who else was on the guest list.
This is Richard Gere's third marriage (he was married to Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995, and Carey Lowell from 2002 to 2016) and Alejandra Silva's second. "I was a little lost, without light, and knowing him gave meaning to my life," she said about meeting the Pretty Woman star. "It was feeling that someone was reaching out and showing me my true path."
