We are just hours away from the start of Bridal Fashion Week—make sure you follow along here for the latest!—and designers are already giving us a sneak peak inside their new collections. Reem Acra just announced that she will show tuxedos alongside her renowned wedding dresses for the first time.
Acra worked with menswear designer Joseph Abboud to create the complementary looks, which according to WWD, had her “screaming with joy” when she first saw them.
“They were impeccably made—like pieces of art,” she said.
Her new collection of bridal gowns will be shown alongside 12 of Abboud’s custom creations that were pieced together in less than two weeks. “It’s the fastest we’ve ever done anything like this,” Abboud told WWD.
This collaboration is Acra’s latest attempt at incorporating a unique element into her bridal presentations. “I don’t like runway shows,” she told WWD. “I want people to feel something emotional and I think events should be all-inclusive and an experience to attract people’s attention.”
Last season, Acra grabbed people's attention with her Celebration collection. The show was designed by wedding planner Preston Bailey, who created an entire floral presentation to match the gowns. Models showed off their floral embellished gowns while sitting around a floral-covered table underneath floral chandeliers.
Despite Acra saying she doesn't like runway shows, she sure knows how to run one. If last season was any indication of what’s to come, we can’t imagine what Abboud and Acra were able to come up with together.
You can see all the magic for yourself. The Reem Acra show is set for Thursday, April 11 at 6pm EST, and will be shown live on Instagram.
