Obviously sex any time of day is awesome. We fully endorse your doing it in the evening, before bed, in the afternoon, on your lunch break, after the gym—you know, whenever.
But let's talk morning sex. Morning sex is the darling of many a woman, yet we're not having enough of it. We always hear about how great it is, and often we want to, but then ... we don't. It makes sense. We're busy, we're cranky before that enormous mug of coffee, and have so much to do before we leave for work.
Instead of skipping out on morning sex, set the alarm back a few extra minutes so you can indulge. Come on, you can do the spoon position. It's not that hard. Morning sex is not only delightful (who doesn't love beginning the day with an orgasm?), but it's also good for your health. It has the ability to change your entire mood for the day.
Here is why you should be having more morning sex. If you can't make it work every weekday, at least promise us you'll have it on Saturday. Please?!
1. It will improve your relationship.
It's no secret that sex makes you feel closer to your partner. It's our natural human instinct to feel more intimate after being intimate with someone we love. Having sex in the morning will set you and your partner up for a day of positive vibes. Think about it: Have you ever had a fight before work when you got off together beforehand? We doubt it.
Plus, if you have a steamy sex session in the morning, you'll have happy memories to think about all day. Even if your partner was a real a-hole yesterday, you'll forget about it. It may just be nooky, but it's some powerful mind magic. More frequent sex means less marital woes. Obviously sex isn't the cure-all for deep relationship problems, but it doesn't hurt.
2. It lowers anxiety.
Sex = magic. The endorphins and feel-good hormones (like oxytocin and dopamine) that flood your bloodstream during and after sex can help you start your day in a calm flow. Orgasm naturally chills out the brain and lowers stress. It helps inhibit the body's stress hormone, cortisol. It's literally good for your health.
Have a big meeting? Have morning sex. Slammed with a huge project? Get slammed. (See what we did there?!)
3. Your orgasms may be more intense.
After hours of rest and rejuvenation, your clitoris is more sensitive and easily primed for action. While the evidence is not entirely conclusive. some studies have shown orgasms can be more intense in the morning. If this isn't a reason to get some action in the AM, we don't know what is. Couldn't hurt to do your own research.
4. Your focus will be on-lock.
Since orgasm helps reduce those hellish cortisol levels, leaving stress in the dust—you'll be more focused for the day. Sex gets your head on straight, leaving you calm and clear-minded. Taking deep breaths in the morning or having a three minute meditation break has been shown to make a noticeable difference in focus throughout the day.
Forget meditation, opt for sexual rejuvenation instead! (Or meditate together afterwards?)
5. Jumpstart your metabolism.
Your metabolism is at its slowest in the morning, having gone on stasis during your night of sleep. The best way to kickstart your metabolism is with some rigorous exercise. Yeah, you know where we're going with this. In lieu of a morning jog, strip out of your jammies and climb on top of your partner.
Studies have shown that sex can burn about three calories a minute. In a 20 minute session, that's sixty calories. You burn about that many calories on a one-mile walk. Do we have you convinced yet?
Well, it gets better. When your metabolism is up and running, you jumpstart your immune system. So, if you have regular morning sex, you can help stave off that cold you've been fighting.
