Finding out you're expecting a baby is often one of the most exciting and emotional times in your life. And sharing the news with your partner can make the experience even better.
If you're looking for some inspo on how to break the news, (or just want to feel all the feels!) we asked real brides how they broke the big news to their partners. Here's what they had to say.
"My husband and I had been trying for a while. We finally turned to IUI, and were told to return in two weeks for blood work, but because I didn't end up needing the trigger shot that can cause a false positive pregnancy test, I knew I could test at home. We decided we wanted to know together, instead of me getting a call from a nurse. So, we took the test, set it on the counter, and returned a few minutes later to look at it together. SO happy we opted for the digital one this time—it clearly said 'PREGNANT,' " We both cried. —Nicole, 31
"It was 6 a.m., and I decided to take a test. He was on his way to work, so I called him. (Our dog was sick so he thought I was calling to tell him I wasn't going to work and taking her to the vet.) I said, 'Umm, Kev, we're having a baby.' He replied, 'What?!' I reiterated to him that I was pregnant and he still said, 'No way'. So, I sent him a pic of the test. Then, we cried and celebrated when we got home from work." —Stacy, 30
"I wasn't even a day late for my period, but my husband (then fiancé) had asked me to take a pregnancy test because he just had a feeling. So, I took it and he was right! And then, I cried because I couldn't drink at my wedding and bachelorette party! But our daughter is the best thing that ever happened to us." —Katie, 31
"I called him and said, 'You need to come home from work, like, now.' And then he just automatically guessed it. We were caught off guard because it wasn't planned and was a total surprise, but our son is the best thing to ever happen to us." —Jill, 29
"Well, when we got pregnant with our daughter, we were so nervous because of our previous miscarriages. So, it was kinda anticlimactic. I just got up one morning before work and peed on that stick and walk into the bedroom and showed him. No fanfare. We barely even smiled. It really wasn't until we hit three months that we started to get excited. But now six years later, she's dancing around the living room to Moana right now." —Jennifer, 37
"I came out of the bathroom screaming, 'Oh my God! Oh my God! I think I'm pregnant.' Then, I ran back into the bathroom to take another test. I couldn't hold it in and surprise him. I was too excited!!!" —Kristina, 31
"We had been trying but every test kept coming back negative. So, on October 15, I decided to take another test. I went into the bathroom, took the test, and was eagerly waiting for the results to show. I was in complete shock when I saw it was positive. I put the test in my pocket and went back into the living room. I sat down and the first thing he said to me is, 'Why are you acting weird?' and I played dumb, but then I started hysterically crying and showed him the test. His immediate response was 'No way!' We both cried tears of joy as we hugged each other tight. We were both in shock and were so happy because we have been waiting for the day we would see a test come back positive. Our hearts were full of so much love." —Angela 28
