Queen Elizabeth's annual Christmas message may have gotten us even more excited about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2018 royal wedding. (Like we could be any more excited!). The Queen's annual Christmas address had a very special message which seemed deliberately aimed at the latest additions to the royal family.
As Queen Elizabeth delivered her annual Christmas message, a framed portrait of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be seen on her side table, joining many other framed photos of royal family members. Come on! Your grandma definitely already printed out your Instagram #BridesRings selfie and framed it on her table too. Prince Harry and Markle's beautiful engagement photo was spotted at a table next to a portrait of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, and on the adjacent table the Queen keeps her own wedding photo, her 70th wedding anniversary portrait, and photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Seriously, royal grandmas, they're just like us.
The Queen took special note to mention that she was looking forward to welcoming new members into the royal family in 2018. We assume she means both Markle and the new baby joining the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's brood in the spring.
The Queen also took the time to acknowledge her own long marriage as she celebrated 70 years with Prince Phillip this year. "I don't know that anyone had invented the term platinum' for a 70th wedding anniversary when I was born. You weren't expected to be around that long."
Markle wowed the crowds earlier in the day as she was spotted with Prince Harry, Prince William and Duchess Catherine—the new fab four!—at Christmas services at Sandringham with the royal family. It's been quite whirlwind for our American princess-to-be as she spends her first Christmas with her new family. And she even showed she's mastered curtsying like a pro! And you thought your first Christmas with the in-laws was hard! Amirite?
