The newest trend in the bridal world that's making headlines just about everywhere? PUPPIES. IN. WEDDINGS. And we're not talking about the usual "dog as ring bearer walk down the aisle" gig. Nope, the newest trend that has captured American bride's hearts is replacing expensive bouquets with adorable — and perfectly adoptable! — pups. The first time we at BRIDES even saw such a thing was when a bride (who actually works for an organization that helps rescue and rehabilitate animals in need) brought some pretty freakin' cute rescue puppies to her wedding photo shoot. Naturally, the bridesmaids lost their sht. Even the groomsmen got in on the fun! But now a new bride, or rather her fiancé*, is making headlines.
Radio personality and comedian Jeff Dauler, of the Jeff & Jenn Show on Atlanta's Star 94.1, took his bride, Callie Riggs, by surprise when he interrupted her wedding photo shoot and brought in nine tail-wagging pups from a local orphanage for her and her 'maids to snuggle with. The pictures, as you can clearly see, are priceless.
Dauler and Riggs are self-proclaimed dog lovers, so it only seemed fitting to calm everyone's nerves with a whole bunch of pups before the big walk down the aisle. "Callie and I are huge dog lovers and have rescued three between us," Dauler said. "I wanted a way to make some of the wedding stress go away for Callie for at least a few minutes. What better way than to snuggle with a puppy!"
The bride even posted a video on her Instagram page of all the girls' reactions to the pooches' surprise delivery. Obviously — as there should be in such a situation — there are squeals of delight from every single one of them. And secretly us here in the office, too... no shame! Riggs captioned the Insta saying, "When your amazing fiancé surprises you and your girls with adoptable orphaned rescue puppies! All these little baby nuggets are avail for adoption @bosleys.place! I started to lose it at the end."
We feel ya, girlfriend. We feel ya. See the rest of this puppy-lovin' couple's wedding below.
