While there have been countless furry proposals that involve man's best friend — like the one where the question was popped using pooch-safe pink and purple letters on their pet dog's side, or the one where a woman got a surprise proposal AND a surprise puppy at the same time — this one has got to be the most heartwarming of them all. On Sunday, one lucky fiancee-to-be named Nicole Simone was proposed to with the help of the dogs she helped rescue from Hurricane Harvey.
If you'll recall, Hurricane Harvey hit Texas at the end of August, causing three deaths, injuring at least a dozen people, leaving thousands without power, and displacing people and animals alike. Many pets were separated from their owners, with national and local humane organizations putting up lost pets for adoption after making efforts to locate their owners, per the Weatherford Democrat.
One such organization was Redemption Paws, a non-profit "focused on helping dogs in disaster situations," according to its Twitter, that was founded by Nicole. And two of the pups she rescued and relocated from Houston to Toronto, where Redemption Paws is based, joined her friends (and one Pit Bull who was saved from euthanasia) to help her now-fiancé surprise her with a ring. The awwwww-inducing saga was all captured in engagement pics she posted to Twitter, which show the dogs mean-mugging for the camera while her friends hold up silver signs spelling out "Will you marry me?" Rupert the chihuahua opted for a goofier pose, while his fellow rescue Poppy "preferred to show her butt."
Here's hoping they come back for a reunion when Nicole and her fiancé seal the deal.
