Another celebrity couple has tied the knot — and the wedding was totally star-studded. Professional golfer Rory McIlroy married his fiancée of a little over a year, Erica Stoll, during a gorgeous wedding at Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo, Ireland. The couple exchanged vows on Saturday, April 22.
According to E! and a number of different news outlets, the couple had quiet the lavish affair. Their wedding at the historic castle cost at least $250,000, and a bunch of celebrity guests were in attendance, including Stevie Wonder, One Direction guitarist Niall Horan, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay's Chris Martin, and 50 Shades of Grey actor Jamie Dornan. We definitely wish we were invited to this ceremony.
To make us even more envious, the legendary Wonder is rumored to have performed as the newlyweds exchanged nuptials. Yep, definitely jealous. "I Just Called to Say I Love You," "Isn't She Lovely," and "Signed, Sealed, and Delivered" are some of the hits mentioned to have been performed.
During the reception, Sheeran reportedly put on show for the couple. We could be saying this too soon, but this might be the celeb wedding of the year.
The couple seemingly keeps their relationship away from the spotlight, but during an earlier interview with the Irish Sunday Independent, the 27-year-old previously gushed about his relationship with the blonde beauty, and revealed the secret to their lasting relationship.
"The thing I love about it is that we were friends before anything romantic happened," McIlroy told the publication.
Ilroy was introduced to Stoll during a golf tournament back in 2012, but the didn't star dating until 2015. "We met when she was working for the PGA of America and renting a condo in Palm Beach, and I found it refreshing being with someone who was living a normal life rather than, 'Oh! My jet is 30 minutes late!'" Ilroy recalled. "I could speak to her about anything, we ended up spending a bit of time together and realized that there was something more there"
"I love that she knows everything about me, and there was no judgment there. There was no judgment from Day 1, which is huge, because that's very hard to find for someone in my position."
Sounds like these two love birds are the perfect match — congratulations!
