Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas may already be hitched, having tied the knot in a quickie Las Vegas wedding ceremony after the Billboard Music Awards on May 1, but as Priyanka Chopra confirmed in a new interview, the fun’s not over just yet!
The actress sat down with Access Hollywood for a new interview published on Wednesday, May 8, in which she confirmed reports that the couple will wed again in a more formal ceremony this summer.
“They’re gonna have this amazing, beautiful wedding, obviously,” Chopra said before quickly adding, “Sh*t. Was I not supposed to say that?”
The actress also confirmed that Joe’s desire to have contact sports at the ceremony will likely become reality. “I’m gonna be on the cheering team,” Chopra revealed of the upcoming festivities. “’Yay, you guys are great, well done,’ while I sip on a bellini.”
Joe, 29, previously dished to James Corden in March about his plans to play rugby at his wedding. “Her whole family doesn’t like football; they like rugby. So now I have to figure that out," the Grammy nominee said at the time. "We’re going to have a flag rugby game at the wedding and a flag football game. So, if all the groomsmen show up with black eyes and broken arms, I’ll be very proud."
In addition to rugby, the couple’s wedding will feature two maids of honor for the Game of Thrones star (one of whom will be BFF Maisie Williams) and plenty of Coors Light, according to the DNCE front man.
Chopra also dished on her in-laws’ impromptu nuptials, explaining how the spur-of-the-moment guest list came about: “We were at the Billboards, Joe, I think had this idea that he wanted to do this … We had these little black cards that we all got, and we are like randomly inviting our friends, like people that we met, and we were like all right, we’re gonna set up this wedding now, we’re going to the chapel right from here, and please arrive, please arrive.”
The tactic worked, with everyone in attendance from Diplo and Khalid, to country music stars Dan + Shay, who played “Speechless” as Turner walked down the aisle. Chopra also revealed to People that she served as both the flower girl and bridesmaid for the event.
“That was so fun, it was so fun, and it’s so Jophie,” said Chopra, who recalled hanging out in a pink Hummer limo. “Like, trust them to do that. That is Jophie.”
She continued: “It’s exactly who and what we stand for. Nick and Joe both are so different, but are best friends and that’s what’s beautiful about their relationships, and you can see that in the weddings, as well,” she said. “It was very reflective of the two of them and us as couples.”
Turner broke her silence about her first ceremony while walking the red carpet alongside her new husband at the Met gala on Monday, May 6. “Camp is, um, hard to define,” she said of the evening’s "Camp: Notes on Fashion" theme. “Let me give you an example of camp. I think camp is, um, getting married in Vegas last minute after the Billboard Music Awards [because] that would be fun. I’d like to try that. That’s camp.”
