Our predictions were right, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding was epically lavish. From the venue to the multi-day celebration and the dresses—yes, plural—everything was over-the-top, right down to the wedding cake.
For the confectionary portion of the couple’s Christian ceremony, Chopra and Jonas served an 18-foot wedding cake. The cake was extravagantly decorated with tiny windows, balconies and gold columns. To create such a head-tuning cake, Jonas flew in personal chefs from Dubai and Kuwait to make it happen, according to Delish.
Naturally, a cake of this stature and significance couldn’t be cut with a regular triangular cake knife. According to a People TV clip, the newlyweds took did the honors with a legit sword, because that's not extra at all.
In the clip, the bride and groom take the sword and try cutting into the cake together. Between the expression on Chopra’s face and her seemingly mouthing the words “oh sh*t,” the task was much more difficult than she expected.
Most likely none of the guests caught the bride struggling. We imagine their eyes were fixated on the sky as three minutes worth of fireworks reportedly went off during the cake cutting.
Are you even surprised? The cake was just icing on top of the entire wedding fit for a royal. It took place at a literal palace and the bride herself looked straight out of fairytale in both of her bridal looks. Chopra's long-sleeve, high-neck Ralph Lauren gown—complete with a 75-foot veil—reportedly took 1,826 hours to hand-embroider. The inner layer of the lace-illusion frock was decked out in 2,380,000 mother of pearl sequins. Her Hindu ceremony dress designed by Sabyasachi took an additional 3,720 hours to make.
We finally understand why Chopra told Vogue, "People will need vacations after this wedding.”
