It's been almost a month since Nick Jonas reportedly proposed to Priyanka Chopra, and the lovebirds still have yet to explicitly confirm that they're engaged. At this point, the only semblance of a confirmation is an anonymously sourced report claiming that, while at a party, Jonas said "thanks, man" to someone who apparently congratulated him on popping the question—so, take that as you will. Finally, however, on Tuesday afternoon, Chopra oh-so-subtly dropped a major hint that she might have, indeed, agreed to marry the former boy bander.
That hint came in the form of a massive, sparkly diamond ring that Chopra flashed in a set of two selfies her pal Raveena Tandon, a Bollywood actress, posted on Instagram. Though Tandon attempted to place the focus on her and Chopra's pouty expressions with her caption, their innocuous face-pulling couldn't steal the spotlight from Chopra's gorgeous new piece of jewelry. The ring appears to feature a large, cushion-cut diamond set in a silver or platinum band and surrounded by smaller, tapered baguettes. Needless to say, it's stunning.
The ring is likely the work of Tiffany & Co., since Jonas was rumored to have rented out the company's entire London outpost on July 18, Chopra's 36th birthday, to serve as the backdrop for his grand proposal. The Quantico actress previously seemed to flash her new jewelry earlier this month, when she arrived at the New Delhi airport and stealthily pulled something sparkly off her left hand before walking outside, right past the paparazzi's curious lenses.
And today, we learned that her massive diamond ring cost just as much (if not more) than you'd imagine. According to diamond expert and WP Diamonds president Andrew Brown, the bauble set Jonas back a cool $200,000. Anything for love!
"Priyanka's ring is a high quality cushion cut weighing around 4 carats," Brown told E! News. "It looks to be somewhere around a G color, VS1 clarity which, from Tiffany & Co, would have a value of around $200,000."
Though Chopra and Jonas have kept things pretty low-key since they first started dating, just a few months ago, it's possible that this weekend could mark their finally going public with the (rumored) engagement. Earlier this week, Mumbai-based English-language newspaper Daily News and Analysis reported that the pair are flying their families into Mumbai this weekend, apparently to celebrate their engagement as one big family. Once that's taken care of, perhaps an Insta-official confirmation for the rest of us will be the next step?
