Stella McCartney just announced that she's launching a Meghan Markle-inspired gown collection based off the royal bride's second wedding dress, but it seems Princess Sofia of Sweden has already beaten this designer to the punch.
The Swedish royal, who just celebrated her third wedding anniversary to Prince Carl Philip, attended the 2018 Polar Music Prize award ceremony yesterday in Sweden, sporting a frock that bears a striking resemblance to Meghan's Stella McCartney wedding gown. Although Sofia opted for a slightly more fitted emerald version, the sleeveless dress features a high, halter neckline, very reminiscent of Meghan's. It seems even other royals are buying into the very-real Markle Effect.
While Meghan accessorized her wedding reception look with her signature messy bun and Princess Diana's ring, Princess Sofia opted for chunky statement earrings. She attended the event with her ever-dapper husband and his sister, Princess Madeliene of Sweden, who also wore a green dress.
The good news is that the rest of us non-royals can hop on the Meghan Markle wedding dress bandwagon (but unfortunately not in green just yet). Although Stella McCartney's "Made with Love" collection only features 46 white and black gowns modeled after Meghan's, a spokesperson informed Telegraph that the clothing compilation will expand into a wedding collection next spring.
As expected, Meghan Markle has proven her trendsetting powers yet again. We're predicting 2018 as the year of the halter neck gown resurgence, so stock up now.
