Princess Eugenie turned 29 on Saturday, and one of the people eager to send her birthday wishes was Zac Posen—the designer behind the gorgeous, old Hollywood-style reception dress she wore last October when she married Jack Brooksbank.

On Sunday, Posen posted a stunning, never-before-seen photo of Princess Eugenie in the gown alongside a sweet message celebrating her 29th year. The image captures Posen arranging the dress's delicate plissé silk and smiling up at the princess.

"Every now and then you meet somebody who just knocks your socks off," he wrote in the caption. "This last year I got to know a young lady who possessed natural elegance, a heart of gold and sophisticated humor. My studio and I had the honor (and the best time) collaborating with her on her special gown. Best of all she is dedicated to using her privilege to help our world and its people with her project."

The love is mutual. Earlier this month, Princess Eugenie revealed the inspiration for the gown was Grace Kelly in the 1955 film To Catch a Thief, and brought her idea to Posen. He delivered exactly what she wanted with meticulous care. "Every single draping effect, every single detail, every button, it’s all painstakingly done by him and his team," she said, adding that Posen was "a cool, fun, brilliant designer and friend."

Princess Eugenie broke from royal tradition by picking a blush reception gown, a very specific nod to the color of an English rose. The reception gown marked just another way in which Princess Eugenie personalized her special day. She also touched many people by walking down the aisle in a regal Peter Pilotto dress with a low-cut back that showed off a scar from a scoliosis surgery she had at age 12. She clearly thought every detail out—and made a close friend in Posen in the process!
