If you thought Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis' outfits in their latest portraits looked familiar, your eyes weren't deceiving you. Tthe two little royals were both sporting hand-me-downs in the two new photos, which were taken by mom Kate Middleton and shared on the official Kensington Palace social media accounts over the weekend. Royals, they really are just like us.
In one of the photos, Charlotte gives her newborn baby brother a kiss on the head while cradling him in her arms. The little princess wears a navy knit cardigan sweater over a white top with ruffly neckline. As E! News notes, not only did Princess Charlotte copy older brother Prince George's pose from his first photos with her back in 2015, but she also raided his closet to do it. George can be seen wearing the cardigan in a shot captured by Annie Leibovitz in 2016 of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by her two youngest grandchildren and five of her great-grandchildren. At the time, George wore the sweater over a white shirt with a Peter Pan collar and paired it with his signature shorts and knee socks combo.
In the other photo the royal family shared over the weekend, Prince Louis sits alone, propped up on a pillow and looking contemplatively into the distance. He wears a cozy white sweater with ruffles around the neck and braid detailing across the shoulders, and matching white footie pants, an ensemble that—you guessed it—has previously been worn by another young royal. In the photos of George and a newborn Charlotte that Middleton took in 2015, then-one-month-old Charlotte wears the exact same sweater and pants, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The Duchess of Cambridge has shown her affinity for recycling outfits time and again. Besides regularly rewearing various priceless royal headpieces and her wedding day earrings, Middleton also repeated several maternity outfits while pregnant with Prince Louis, and has repeated some of her classiest get-ups three or four times each.
