Though Meghan Markle is still likely a few weeks short of the mid-pregnancy ultrasound where she'll have the opportunity to learn the sex of her baby, Prince Harry already knows what he wants that scan to reveal.
Over the weekend, while attending yet another event on their official royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga, Harry gave a very telling response when some local well-wishers shared their own hopes for whether he and Meghan will soon be welcoming a little duke or duchess. As seen in a video of the interaction posted by a fan account on Instagram on Sunday, according to The Cut, Harry was walking down a road, waving to people on the sidewalk as he went, when someone shouted out, "I hope it's a girl!" The duke then shouted back, "So do I!"
Even if the parents-to-be do find out the sex of their baby sometime in the next few weeks, they won't be sharing it with the rest of us. Not only did Prince William and Kate Middleton refrain from even finding out the respective sexes of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis before each was born, but they also wouldn't have been able to tell the public if they had. As was reported shortly before Louis's birth, royal tradition dictates that members of the royal family don't learn the sex of their children in advance, and if, like Princess Diana, they choose to break with this tradition, they're not allowed to reveal it to the world until the child has been born.
If Meghan and Harry's first child, who is due sometime in spring 2019, is indeed a little girl, British oddsmakers are betting she'll be named Lady Victoria, Alice, or Diana of Sussex. A son, on the other hand, is expected to be called Albert, Arthur, or Philip—and would probably also inherit one of Harry's many courtesy titles, like Earl of Dumbarton or Baron Kilkeel. While we won't find out the little royal's name for several months, at least we know where Harry's placing his bets!
