Prince Harry is taking after his big brother.
In 2011, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their own engagement photos prior to their big day, and they look an awful lot like Harry and Meghan’s photos. William and Kate took a series of photos: one formal pose and one casual pose. Harry and Meghan followed suit, posing in a similar manner for their own engagement shots.
In the casual photo, Meghan wears a light sweater and holds Harry’s face in a close embrace, showing off her beautiful three-stone diamond ring. Similarly, Kate wore a casual top and embraced William while also showing off her engagement ring—a 12-carat oval sapphire ring.
In the second, more professional photos, both men wear a formal suit and tie while their fiancées don formal frocks. There are some obvious differences between the two—Meghan wears a black and gray embellished gown with illusion sleeves, while Kate opted for the more classic white dress suit. However, the dress coat Meghan wore for the official announcement closely mimicked Kate's engagement shoot dress.
Additionally, the two couples went with different photographers. Harry and Markle had their portraits taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, while William and Kate were photographed by Mario Testino.
The two couples also chose different locations for their shoots. Meghan and Harry chose Frogmore House in Windsor as the backdrop for their photos—the same town where they plan to get married—while William and Kate chose St. James’s Palace in London.
