Prince Harry Might Have Proposed to Meghan Markle During Their Trip to Africa

Harry reportedly worked with a jeweler in the months prior to the vacation

The mystery continues. Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle vacationed in Botswana in honor of Markle's 36th birthday. The couple jetted off to the same location where Prince William popped the question to Kate Middleton, which led many to believe a surprise proposal might've been up the royal's sleeve. Well, rumor has it that Harry indeed wanted to ask for Markle's hand in marriage during their three-week stay.

According to Us Weekly, a royal insider revealed that Harry wanted to propose near the anniversary of his mother's death, which is next week, so he can "associate August with something joyful." Even more, Harry visited the south African country soon after his mother's passing, describing it as his "second home," while adding, “This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world.”

All signs definitely point toward an engagement. The royal insider continued to reveal that in the months prior to the trip, Harry worked very closely with a jeweler to craft a ring worthy of a princess. Like Prince William, the royal added a special memento to the ring in honor of his mother. "[Harry] had diamonds taken from a brooch he inherited from Diana," the insider admitted to the entertainment source.

Since the couple embarked on their African vacation, rumors of a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle proposal have continued to swirl. According to a previous report from The Sun, Harry was determined to make this trip very meaningful. "Harry has been planning this holiday for a long time," a source said. "He's made the trip incredibly romantic. They'll go on boats across the lake, walk in the bush at dawn, and camp under the stars. Who knows what will happen when they're watching a sensational African sunset together? Maybe he'll get down on one knee. Harry regards Africa as his spiritual home and has often talked of how he can get away from it all there."

Of course, rumors are rumors, and we won't start planning the wedding until there's an official announcement.
