Grab your sparkliest Sharpie and mark your calendar because we're officially one month away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding! When news of the pair's wedding date initially broke, May 19 seemed like an eternity to wait for these royal lovebirds to walk down the aisle. Now, with the widely-anticipated ceremony truly right around the corner, it seems that last-minute wedding prep is somehow the last thing on this duo's mind, as the pair attended an event in London earlier today.
Markle, who's known for advocating for women's rights, accompanied her future groom to a Women’s Empowerment event, where the couple had the opportunity to learn more about specific organizations dedicated to worldwide gender equality. Representatives from charities such as the Malala Fund, which provides safe education to girls for 12 years, and the Varkey Foundation, a nonprofit that also helps improve education for underprivileged children, were in attendance.
The Women's Empowerment reception marks one event of a weeklong series that's part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which brings together the leaders of 53 countries. At a Commonwealth event yesterday, Markle revealed her desire to campaign for LGBTQ rights once she assumes her new royal status, according to People. "Both Prince Harry and Miss Markle said they would put LGBT issues at the front of their work," Jonah Chinga, a proponent of LGBTQ rights from Kenya, reported at the event.
Even though Markle will (probably) be sporting white exactly 30 days from now when she says I do, the former actress sure rocked a little black dress at today's event. The future bride wore a tea-length fitted black number with a belt, paired with matching sky-high black strappy heels. She also accessorized the monochromatic look with a black clutch. Of course, her signature messy bun made a reappearance as well.
And good news for all you Markle Maniacs out there who want your closets to mirror this modern-day princess—you can get your hands on the exact dress. At a cool $375, the frock by Black Halo is available at Bloomingdale's. It also comes in white for any fellow betrothed ladies who want to get into the wedding-day spirit. But act fast, since anything Markle wears has a tendency to sell out within the day.
The ever-adorable pair was all smiles as they mingled with guests at the event, proving the stress of planning a royal wedding has yet to get the best of them. However, even if it is and they're simply hiding it well, Markle and Harry reportedly have a pre-honeymoon trip to Greece to look forward to at the beginning of May. Nothing like a little R&R to calm your nerves before you walk down the aisle in front of millions of viewers (no pressure, guys).
It's almost surreal to think about how close we are to witnessing the royal wedding, and we're not even the bride and groom! As much as the day is all about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, we still can't wait to partake in the festivities from across the pond.
