If you thought you were excited to meet the new royal baby, just wait until you see Prince George and Princess Charlotte's reaction. On Monday, Prince William took a detour from St. Mary's Hospital in London, where Kate Middleton had just given birth to a baby boy, to pick up the couple's two oldest kids. He then walked them back to the hospital to greet their new baby brother.
Speed-walking on the way there, Prince George and Princess Charlotte could barely contain their excitement, although Princess Charlotte did take the opportunity for a tiny photo-op, stealing the show with an adorable wave at the paparazzi. Around half an hour later, the official Kensington Palace Twitter confirmed that they had returned home to Kensington Palace, and that Kate Middleton and Prince William would be leaving the hospital with their new baby later this evening.
"Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have received," read a follow-up tweet. "They would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes."
Previously, the Kensington Palace Twitter confirmed that Kate Middleton had given birth to a healthy baby boy on Monday. "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs," read the announcement. "The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well." Neither the Duke nor Duchess of Cambridge has revealed what the baby's name is, but Prince William has joked in the past that he's quite taken with the name Jack, just saying.
