Preston Bailey is a wedding planning superstar, largely recognized as one of the wedding industry's most extraordinary talents and genuinely kind souls. His luminous floral sculptures are instantly recognizable, and he has long been one of Hollywood's go-to sources for planning A-list events. So when an invitation to attend the wedding of Preston himself arrived in our mailbox, our hearts immediately raced!
At the stroke of midnight on Valentine's Day, Preston and his long-time love, Theo Bleckmann, exchanged "I dos" before a crowd of gathered friends, family and industry mega stars. The pair choose the Empire State Building as the site of their ceremony and reception.
The King Kong theme couldn't go unnoticed given the venue, the Empire State Building, was the backdrop for the 1933 film.
The alter was washed in white. Over 800 orchids were used to transform the space into a floral fantasy land.
Joan Rivers officiated the ceremony. Preston designed a winter wonderland for Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, when she tied the knot in 1998. They have been close pals ever since.
Designer Reem Acra—in attendance—designed a romantic 12-foot custom wedding gown from which Preston emerged to greet his groom.
Sylvia Weinstock whipped up an orchid bouquet-inspired wedding cake. Guests nibbled on hor d'oeuvres that were interpretations of classic combos, like bacon and eggs, peanut butter and jelly and tomato and basil.
