Although hubby Ryan Reynolds seems to be pretty amped up about his pending-parenthood, Blake Lively is looking to the women in her life for mothering advice. The number one person she's seeking out for parenting guidance? Her mom!
"If I could pass along anything that my mother or my sisters taught me, I feel like my kids will be very well off," the mom-to-be told People at L'Oréal's Women of Worth awards last night in New York City.
Especially when it comes to balancing a career and a child, Lively admires all that her mom did while she was growing up. "My mom is a huge woman of worth for me because she's been my idol my whole life," the Preserve founder told reporters.
She continued, "My mom was someone who juggled everything. She had her own career, she raised five kids, she was Superwoman. And she was never satisfied doing just one thing because ... she probably just had too much energy. So for me, it was important to have that because that's what I felt like I knew best."
Not only her mom, but women in general, inspire her to be the best possible future mom she can be. At the awards, which honored 10 extraordinary women across the globe who are making a real difference in the community, Lively said she was motivated by their innovation and strength.
"I'm also fortunate enough to be amongst women like this. The woman tonight who I'm honoring, Brittany Wenger, created this app at 16 years old to help diagnose cancer," she added. "I'm fortunate to come across people like that. And anything that I learn to be able to expose my children to and instill any sort of values or motivation in them, that's exciting."
