Proposing to the love of your life is no easy feat. There's a ton of planning (and money!) involved, as well as a common feeling of "OMG, is she going to say yes?!" That's enough to make some sick to their stomach as is, but one adventurous journalist from California was certain a private plane proposal would be all it would take for his girlfriend, Rheanna Lopez, to agree to spend the rest of her life with him, so he pulled all of the strings to make it happen. And all was going well until, well, he puked mid-proposal. Poor guy!
Darrell Hamilton Jr. recently opened up to ABC News about his less-than-stellar proposal performance, telling the news station, "Rheanna just really likes the outdoors and nature, and I thought it'd be a cool idea to give her a nice view." A nice view of her puke-stained shoes perhaps? Sorry, we had to.
Before the couple took to the skies that day, they strolled along California's Reedley Blossom Trail, where the journalist took pictures. They then headed to a nearby airport after their hike for the ultimate surprise. "She said, 'Stop! What are you doing? This is crazy,'" Hamilton told ABC News. "She realized that I knew the pilot when we got out of the car and he said my name."
While United may call the skies "friendly," Hamilton would probably think it's anything but. In the video, you can see Lopez taking in the scenery below as her boyfriend becomes increasingly nauseated. Many people are claiming his little mishap resulted from being a ball of nerves before his grand proposal, but Hamilton chalks it up to the small plane. "It had nothing to do with being nervous. I got sick from being inside the plane. It was a really small plane, and the pilot was helping me look for the sign I made her." The sign, a big ol' "Marry me?" question on his cousin's lawn, took him two hours to make. The pilot strategically flew over it so that Lopez could see it before Hamilton took out the ring. But, as you know, things didn't go according to plan.
"The tilting kind of messed with my stomach," he admitted. "I couldn't hold it much longer. I just tapped her on the shoulder. I didn't even ask her. I just gave her the ring." Luckily for Hamilton, his now-fiancée did eventually say yes—after they cleaned themselves up a bit, of course. What a keeper!
