Sarah and David, who live in Manhattan, chose to marry at the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal, located in the Navy Yard. "We wanted our wedding to feel very much like 'us,' so we looked for a raw space that we could completely transform," says Sarah.
The bride wore an Oscar de la Renta gown with a tulle skirt embellished with silk flowers, from Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier. David sported a custom-made white dinner jacket. Bridesmaids wore gray silk chiffon Jenny Yoo dresses.
Sarah entered the ceremony on the arm of her father. The space was designed to resemble a lush English garden: "We wanted to bring the outdoors in," says Sarah. The chuppah was adorned with magnolias, lemon leaves, and ferns; arrangements of white flowers were suspended from the ceiling.
The reception featured peacock-inspired jewel tones. One wall was painted with trees, birds, and birdcages to resemble an antique wallpaper pattern the bride has always loved. The escort-card table featured an antique birdcage and coffee-table books on local landmarks and Navy Yard history, which served as guest books. All stationery was by Wren Press.
Reception tables were decorated with deep blue and green silk and a variety of centerpieces, including low arrangements of Japanese peonies and craspedia. A "chandelier" of flowers and candles was suspended above the head table. Place settings featured menu cards listing the dinner offerings, which included New York strip steak with roasted artichokes and asparagus, the couple's favorite vegetables.
For dessert, guests enjoyed slices of wedding cake designed by Truli Confectionary Arts, plus a variety of sweets.
The bride's father, along with other family members and friends, offered poignant toasts. "The entire evening was memorable, but the speeches were absolutely spectacular," recalls Sarah. For their first dance, the newlyweds chose Ray LaMontagne's "You Are the Best Thing," performed by the Jimmy Church Band.

Before the evening came to an end, Rubix Kube, an '80s tribute band, took to the stage and kicked off an after-party complete with disco balls, sparklers, and drinks served in glowing neon cups. Late-night treats such as Kobe beef sliders, french fries in julep cups, ice cream sandwiches, and Nutella popsicles were also on offer.
