The long wait for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal baby finally ended Monday morning, May 6, when the couple announced they had welcomed a healthy 7 lb., 3 oz. baby boy to the family in the early morning hours.
Good wishes started pouring in from around the globe, including from Markle's former on-screen husband, Patrick J. Adams, who played Mike Ross to her Rachel Zane on Suits. "Just heard that the world just got heavier by 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Much love to him and his incredible parents," Adams tweeted. "Learned first hand 7 months ago how transformational becoming a parent is and couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure. #playdatesoon." The actor and his wife, Pretty Little Liars' star Troian Bellesario, welcomed a daughter last year.
The couple attended Markle and Prince Harry's Windsor wedding last May.
Fellow Suits star—and royal wedding guest—Sarah Rafferty also wished her old friend well. "Hearts are leaping for a beautiful, wondrous and healthy baby boy! Sending much love and wishes for every blessing across the pond today and everyday!" she tweeted.
The couple shared the news of their new baby on social media Monday morning. "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7 lbs. 3oz. The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days," a statement read.
Prince Harry appeared later in the day to gush about his wife and new son, calling the little baby "to die for."
What a happy day!
