Patrick Dempsey Celebrated His 19th Wedding Anniversary Where He Got Married

Actor Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jillian Fink celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on Tuesday with a perfect throwback trip. The actor and his wife revisited the spot where they said "I do" way back in 1999.

“This spot 19 years ago, today!” the former Grey’s Anatomy star wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of he Fink sharing a smooch under the gazebo where they first exchanged vows. The wedding took place at a farmhouse in Maine that belonged to the actor’s family, according to People. The bride’s sister Kristen Mason told the entertainment magazine at the time that Dempsey “saw her and started crying” when his future wife walked down the aisle.

This happy celebration comes just a few years after the couple hit a major rough patch: Fink filed for divorce back in 2015. However signs of the couple getting back together started popping up just a year later in 2016. The two were spotted out together on multiple occasions looking pretty cozy, and in May of that year Dempsey confirmed they were back together. When asked if he and Fink reconciled, Dempsey told Evening Standard, “Yeah, I think so.”

He continued, “You have to work at everything. And you cannot do everything. Something has to be sacrificed.”

The actor told People, “Our marriage was not something I was prepared to let go of. I didn’t feel like we had done all the work. And we both wanted to do that work. That’s where it started.”

Dempsey and Fink decided to work on their marriage with the help of counseling. “It’s always destabilizing when you’re potentially breaking up a family or you have a big section of your life that’s ending,” he said. “Jill and I decided it was time to work on our issues and improve. We wanted to be role models for our kids like, okay, if you have differences, you can work them out.”

Their daughter Talula Fyfe, and twin sons, Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen have watched their parents fight to stay together on top of their busy and thriving careers. Dempsey has had a long career as an actor and Fink works as a celebrity makeup artist and hairdresser for stars like Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence.

If these two can make it, anything is possible.
