Surrounded by aspens, towering pines, and sun-drenched peaks, the lawn of the Empire Canyon Lodge (below, left) naturally creates the feeling of a beautiful wooded wedding—without the trek through the woods. Another option is the stunning Elk Meadows, which is bordered by the aspen groves of Mount Timpanogos. Though it's located at the Sundance Resort, Elk Meadows is accessible only via private shuttles, so you'll have the meadow all to yourselves.
About halfway up the mountain at Deer Valley Resort sits the five-star, European-style Stein Eriksen Lodge, with its breathtaking views of the mountains. The lodge has several reception-space options, depending on the size of your party. I also love Silver Lake Lodge: Have cocktails on the wraparound deck, then enjoy dinner and dancing in the rustic Bald Mountain Room.
The Spur Bar and Grill on Main Street serves hearty Southwestern chow and is perfect for a casual event. Plus, its party space includes a private bar, which makes it easy for out-of-town guests to drop in for drinks if you re not planning to host a dinner for them.
Michael Lucarelli, who plays the Spanish Guitar, has been a favorite of ours and our clients for years. His smooth, classical sound gives a hint of formality to a outdoor wedding ceremony but without the fussiness. We also love the Daniel Day Trio—these three musicians (one one bass, one on guitar, and one on drums) have a really modern sound and they've played songs from artists ranging from Sugarland and Beyonce to the Beatles and U2, for some of our couples.
Sax Romney is one of our favorites—the owner Sean Oviatt has an infectious enthusiasm of his work and is really willing to go above and beyond for his clients. We also love working with Artisan Bloom. The hands-on owner Kellie Jackstien creates beautiful arrangements our clients always love.
Carrie at Carrie's Cakes takes any idea and perfects the design to fit the wedding and couple. She has been on many Food Network Challenges and brings that talent and creativity to each cake she creates. And the taste is equally as delicious as appearance!
Wedding Bands and DJs
Craig Chambers of Disc Connection is really the perfect DJ. He always goes above and beyond for our clients, sourcing requests and creating a personal playlist for each event. And, he has over 20 years of experience. For live music, try Joe Muscolino and his band. Joe really knows how to select songs that appeal to multiple generations and get everyone on the dance floor.
Utah is blessed with so many outstanding local companies, so we like to create welcome baskets for guests featuring some of the state's products. Some we often include are: Great Salt Lake salt water taffy, Wasatch Beer, Rocky Mountain trail mix, DK Truffles, plus a map of Park City.
Wedding Guest Activity
A horse-drawn sleigh ride during cocktail hour is an amazing surprise for winter wedding guests. Knowing that the ladies will be in heels and cocktail dresses we create large baskets full of warm fuzzy slip on boots and warm pashminas. We also like to offer warm cocktail beverages like Hot Tottie, Spiced Apple Cider, and Peppermint Hot Chocolate for guests to take along with them.
