Oprah Winfrey has been a friend to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for some time now. In addition to attending their wedding last May, she recently teamed up with Prince Harry to create and produce a series on mental health for AppleTV+. So, it makes sense that the media mogul already has a gift picked out for the family once the royal baby arrives (which, we probably don't need to remind you, could be any day now.)
Speaking to Access Hollywood on Tuesday, Winfrey revealed what she's getting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's newborn, adding that it's pretty similar to what she has bought for close friends in the past.
"I have a standard gift that I do for people that I really care about," she said. "So I don’t know the baby’s name or the baby’s gender, but this baby will have enough books to last a lifetime!"
It's unclear exactly what form those books will arrive in, but Winfrey has been known to give her buds' kids' gorgeous bookshelves, packed with all of the classics. Back when Winfrey's A Wrinkle in Time co-star Mindy Kaling had her daughter, Katherine, she shared that Winfrey's assistant called her up and simply informed her, "Two men are going to be coming to your house... with a U-Haul truck."
"They arrived with a hand-carved bookcase, prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen that contained a hundred of the classic essential books in children's literature," Kaling remembered. "And I held my baby up to it and I said, 'Did you see what Miss Winfrey did for you?'"
And, to top it all off, Winfrey even had the books inscribed with the words, "Katherine's Book Club." This is clearly a woman who knows how to be extremely thoughtful, so we can't wait to see what special details she adds to Baby Sussex's version of the gift.
