Olympic gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson may have pitched at Friday night's game at Wrigley Field, but it was her boyfriend, Andrew East, who scored a home run. The Kansas City Chiefs' snapper dropped to one knee in the middle of the field as the crowd cheered on, according to Us Weekly.
Johnson joined fellow Team USA gymnast Alicia Quinn at the Cubs. vs. Phillies game to throw the ceremonial first pitch. As she walked from the mound, East met her in the field and proposed. The couple later shared a video on Instagram of the intimate — but very public! — moment, which shows Johnson squealing and nodding excitedly before leaping into his arms.
Johnson captioned the video on Instagram, "Well I know it's not a secret.... But I experienced the greatest surprise a girl could ever ask for today.... The love of my life @andrewdeast asked me to be his forever AND I SAID YES!!!!!!"
East captioned his Instagram image of that special moment with this message: "I'm a lucky guy to put a ring on this girls finger! I love you."
Quinn also took to Instagram, posting a collage of the day and sending best wishes to the couple. "Pretty eventful day — throwing out the first pitch, walking on our hands...and @shawnjohnson getting engaged to our boy @Andrewdeast #causal #nbd #happytears," she captioned the collage.
According to Us, Johnson has not issued a formal statement about the engagement. But if you're anything like us, you can't wait for their wedding details.
