On Monday evening, Brooklyn-based filmmaker Gabe Jacobs captured on camera a touching moment between his grandparents the day before their 80th wedding anniversary. Gabe shared the video of his 105-year-old grandfather Arthur Jacobs and his 100-year-old grandmother Marcia on YouTube, and within two days the sweet clip has already received over 22,000 views.
The video shows Arthur and Marcia holding hands as she lies in bed, Arthur sitting next to her staring at her lovingly.
“I’ve loved you for 80 years, honey. That’s a lot of time,” Arthur tells his wife in the video. "You were only 20 when we fell in love and got married."
Though Marcia has trouble expressing herself in words, it's clear understands the power of Arthur's statements as she kisses his hand.
"Arthur is a beautiful man and so incredibly in love with Marcia. You can tell how sad he is that she is no longer really here,” Gabe wrote in his caption. "Marcia can really only say “hello, hello” but she seems to have some sort of understanding of her surroundings (watch her crack up at Gideon’s joke in the first clip)."
Arthur, born in 1912, was originally from Hammond, Indiana, but went to college at the University of Wisconsin, where he met the love of his life. Marcia, born in 1917, grew up in New York. The two lived for many years in Larchmont, New York, and now live in nearby Rye.
“Proud to have descended from these superhumans,” Gabe added in his caption.
Yep, we're crying.
