Even though their term as President and First Lady is over, Barack and Michelle Obama's ability to give the world major #CoupleGoals is eternal, and that's especially true on Valentine's Day. Taking advantage of the international holiday for public declarations of love, the former POTUS and FLOTUS sent each other a pair of heartwarming Twitter valentines that are more than just a gift to each other — they're a gift to the world.
Since leaving the White House in January, the Obamas have been unwinding (and having a little adrenaline-pumping fun) on a well-deserved tropical vacation in the British Virgin Islands. But even though he's done with politics, Barack is still very much on top of his husband duties. First thing Tuesday morning, he took to Twitter to send his wife a very special valentine, along with an adorable photo from their White House days of the two of them canoodling. "Happy Valentine’s Day, @michelleobama!" he wrote. "Almost 28 years with you, but it always feels new." No, you're crying!
A half hour later, Michelle reciprocated with a Valentine's Day message of her own for her husband, along with a nod to their ongoing romantic trip for two: a photo of their feet side-by-side in the sand on a picture-perfect beach. She wrote, "Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life and favorite island mate, @BarackObama. #valentines"
The couple has only tweeted a handful of times since Barack's presidency ended, but this most recent public display of presidential affection reminds us of the countless other times this dynamic husband-and-wife duo showed love for each other. Their sweet anniversary posts, throwback family pics and especially that time Barack shouted out Michelle in his farewell address made us all believers that true love exists.
Happy Valentine's Day, Barack and Michelle. You're forever in our hearts.
