This is the best thing ever. Barack and Michelle Obama posed for countless photos during their eight years in the White House (and a few more Instagram-worthy ones since). And now, Cleveland couple Cassi and Adam have chosen to honor the Obamas' legendary on-camera chemistry in their own engagement shoot by re-creating a slew of iconic pictures of the former first couple.
"Because we miss them so much.…Our couple Cassi & Adam were channeling Michelle and Barack Obama in this engagement shoot," wrote the shoot's photographer, Natasha Herbert, on Instagram. She shared four shots alongside the Obama originals in her post. As explained by Essence, photos re-created include one from the Obamas' Essence cover shoot, a behind-the-scenes shot from the 2009 National Newspaper Publishers Association reception, and a picture from the White House's 2015 World Expo.
In the sweet pics, the couple seamlessly mirrored the Obamas' poses. Plus, each setting was perfectly replicated, and Herbert was sure to frame each shot just like the original. Cassi also did her hair to match the former FLOTUS's, and she and her man donned outfits and accessories that were nearly identical to what the Obamas wore.
"The couple didn't do this for exposure," said the pair's wedding planner, Covesa Gragg of Covesa Kelly Events, in a press release. "They genuinely admire the Obamas and felt their love was an example of what they want out of their marriage. We just wanted to capture that love."
Cassi and Adam are set to wed in December, and Herbert will be present on the big day to take their wedding photos. No word yet on the couple's honeymoon plans, though we think kitesurfing à la post-presidential Barack Obama might be a good option.
