Chicago West wasn’t the only celebrity baby to make a big debut this weekend: On Saturday, Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder shared the first glimpse of their six-month-old daughter, Bodhi Soleil, via Instagram.
Reed took to the ‘gram to share a shot from her cozy-looking weekend, which appeared to include snuggling in bed with a good book and her new baby. In the photo, a footie-pajama-clad Bodhi is on her lap, but Mom and baby are almost entirely out of the frame, aside from their legs and feet. “Happiness is a book and these toes on a Saturday afternoon...” Reed captioned the photo.
As for her decision to keep baby Bodhi out of the public eye, Reed told Fit Pregnancy and Baby that she wanted to savor her first few weeks in the world for as long as possible. “We’ll take the baby’s first month for ourselves,” she explained. “After the baby arrives, we’re doing one month of silence. Just the three of us, no visitors, and we’re turning off our phones too, so there’s no expectation for us to communicate. Otherwise, every five minutes it would be, ‘How are you feeling? Can we have a picture?’ You don’t get those first 30 days back, and we want to be fully present.”
Reed and Somerhalder wed in 2015 and welcomed Bodhi last July. In August, the Vampire Diaries star penned a romantic note to his wife, thanking her for everything she’d already done for their newborn daughter in her first month of life. “Just a quick note to you my beautiful wife,” he wrote. “You are briefly napping on the other side of the room after being an amazing mom all night so you’ll read this when you wake...seeing these images reminds me of those amazing [nine] months that you sacrificed your whole being to grow our little one.
The kindness, the beauty and organic nature of these photos makes me so very proud. You brought such fun and such power into our lives being pregnant but you literally brought the word sexy into pregnancy, we all see it. Thank you for being my partner in this life and thank you for inspiring not just me but all others who read, hear or see what your soul gives us. Love, You [sic] husband.”
Safe to say the entire family is too cute for words.
