The Phelps family will soon be big enough to compete in an Olympic relay.
Nicole and Michael Phelps each took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that they are expecting their second child. Both posted the same photo, in which Nicole holds their 15-month-old son, Boomer, who is waving a pregnancy test and looks absolutely ecstatic to have a younger sibling. "Number 2 on the way!!!! So excited!! Wonder if it's a boy or a girl??" Michael wrote, while Nicole captioned her version of the sweet pic with, "Lil mans going to be a Big Brother!!!"
Boomer also posted on "his" Instagram to celebrate the big news. "So excited to see what mama is having!! Do I get to have a brother or a sister?!?" he captioned an adorable photo in which he dons a huge smile and claps his hands, while his mom holds the positive pregnancy test in front of him.
Michael and Nicole, who welcomed Boomer in May 2016, married last year and celebrated with not one, not two, but three amazing parties throughout the year. They originally tied the knot at a secret five-person backyard ceremony in Tempe, Arizona, on June 13. After Michael had won five more gold medals at the Rio Olympics, he and Nicole invited 50 of their closest friends and family members to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for a beachside ceremony on October 29. Then, on New Year's Eve, they held a huge Great Gatsby-themed reception with all of their friends and family at the Arizona Biltmore resort.

After a whirlwind year full of Olympic medals, a new baby and multiple wedding celebrations, Nicole told Brides that the pair were looking forward to spending the next few years just focusing on their little family. "We would love to grow our family one day, but we have had so much going and are just enjoying our time with Boomer right now! We'll see what the future holds," she said. "We know that 2016 was a year that would be hard to replicate. We look forward to a new year and building our family for many years to come. We know that the future will be bright and we are thankful to have celebrated with so many of our loved ones!"
Earlier this year, Michael opened up to People about the pair's plans to expand their family, saying, "Nicole has recently brought up that she would like a girl! I'm sure I'm getting pressure." He continued, "We definitely want more kids, it just depends on when...[We're] trying to get moving on some things!"
