The 54th Academy of Country Music Awards took place this weekend, and Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were all over the ceremony (and each other). The couple got particularly affectionate when Urban won the night's top award, entertainer of the year, and eagerly thanked his wife, who gave him a standing ovation.
Urban has been nominated for the award a total of nine times, but this year's win marked his first time actually receiving the honor. He looked genuinely surprised when his name was announced in a category that included country titans such as Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Chris Stapleton, and Jason Aldean. Before running onstage to give an emotional speech, he kissed Kidman and then addressed her directly as he accepted the award.
“Thank you so much. Baby girl, I love you so much,” he told his wife in front of the crowd. He added, "I love you and our girls, Sunday and Faith, who are at home watching right now... My whole team ... I love you guys ... Country radio, I love you so much. Thank you so much. God bless every one of you.”
Kidman and Urban, who have had been married since 2006, have a habit of shouting each other out in award speeches—Kidman also gave him a nod when she got an Emmy last year. Since the ACMs started on Sunday night, they had been packing on the PDA and showing everyone they were just there to have a sweet night out together. Urban dropped a picture of the two of them staring lovingly at one another on Instagram, writing, "Date night at the ACMs!!!!"
Kidman, donning a gorgeous Christopher Kane gown for the event, was incredibly supportive of her husband, adding another image on social media that showed them looking happy and bewildered after the big award win. The caption read, "The night is just beginning!! Celebrating entertainer of the year at the #ACMAwards! THANK YOU EVERYONE!"
In a video Urban shared later, they got emotional as they thanked the AMAs for naming Urban entertainer of the year. "Country music, you have been so good to my husband and to me. We are so grateful," Kidman said.
